Nunzia Picciallo - Puglia

Nunzia Picciallo è un’artista multidisciplinare pluripremiata che lavora come creator, performer e facilitator in diversi contesti internazionali. Dal 2022 concentra la propria attività sulla ricerca, la pratica e la realizzazione di creazioni originali. Il suo lavoro si sviluppa attraverso un approccio transdisciplinare che intreccia danza, performance, arte concettuale e visiva. L’indagine si configura come una ricerca mutevole e in continua evoluzione delle dinamiche fondative tra il corpo – inteso come soggettività in divenire – e il sistema/spazio, invitando a una presenza oltre la superficie e l’immagine.
Le sue creazioni sono state presentate in numerosi paesi, tra cui Italia, Germania, Francia, Olanda, Ucraina, Giappone, Taiwan, Corea del Sud, Isole Canarie, Messico, Panama, Stati Uniti.
Con le performance W am I e Lemmy B. ha ricevuto diversi premi e riconoscimenti tra cui il Premio Performance al 27° International Solo Tanz-Theater Festival di Stoccarda, Premio Residanza – La casa della nuova coreografia, Premio Masdanza, Premio SAI Festival, Premio Incentivo alla Scrittura Coreografica – Cortoindanza, Premio Speciale Movin’Up IN.
Le sue creazioni sono state selezionate da numerosi progetti e piattaforme tra cui Boarding Pass Plus, Progetto CURA, Movin’Up GAi, Collagene – DAS Bologna, Premio Twain_direzioniAltre, Biennale MArteLive, CosiDanza, Stray Birds Dance Platform, Vetrina della giovane danza d’autore – Network Anticorpi XL.
Attualmente è in fase di ricerca e creazione della nuova performance HORIZON, finalista di DNAppunti Coreografici.
Parallelamente alla sua attività performativa, Nunzia porta avanti una pratica di pittura astratta. Le sue opere sono state esposte in collettive presso Cie Résonance (FR), Copelouzos Family Art Museum (GR), Fondazione E.P. Santomasi, Atelier Montez, Palazzo del Forte, Galleria Extra Factory (IT).
Il suo video sperimentale RED è stato finalista alla Biennale MArteLive, The Next Short Film Festival.
Nei suoi progetti si occupa spesso anche della creazione sonora, partendo da un’elaborazione concettuale che accompagna l’intero processo creativo.
Accanto alla pratica artistica, svolge attività di formazione e facilitazione, conducendo laboratori di movimento che coinvolgono professioniste della danza e persone con background e abilità differenti.
È stata docente ospite per numerose istituzioni e festival tra cui La Biennale di Venezia, Taiwan National University of Arts, Università di Panama City, Milkshake Project Paris, Marameo e Dock 11 Berlino, SceneKunst, Gallim Dance Company, Compagnia Balletto di Roma, Da.Re. Dance Research, District Dance Festival, DanzArt Festival, Prospettiva Danza Teatro, R.i.d.a. Program, Opificio in Movimento, International Creative Hub.
Nunzia si è formata presso la Dance Arts Faculty, la Sadna Ga’aton, il collettivo di ricerca LaCollectiz e l’Excellence Program della Batsheva Dance Company, dove ha approfondito la pratica del Gaga Movement Language, ottenendo la certificazione ufficiale per l’insegnamento.
Come performer ha collaborato con artist* internazional* quali Lilach Livne, Alex Mitutziu, Danièle Desnoyer, Federica Rossellini per La Biennale Teatro, Enzo Cosimi, Omer Krieger, Clara Delorme, Penthouss, YY Live Arts.

Nunzia Picciallo is a multi-award-winning multidisciplinary artist working internationally as a creator, performer, and facilitator. Since 2022 they have focused their practice on research, exploration, and the development of original works. Their artistic approach is transdisciplinary, weaving together dance, performance, conceptual and visual art. Their inquiry is a continuously evolving investigation into the foundational dynamics between the body- as a subjectivity in transformation – and the system/space, inviting a presence that goes beyond surface and image.
Their creations have been presented across various countries, including Italy, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, the Canary Islands, Mexico, Panama, and the United States.
With the performances W am I and Lemmy B., they have received multiple awards and recognitions, including Performance Award at the 27th International Solo Tanz-Theater Festival in Stuttgart, Residanza Award – The House of New Choreography, Masdanza Award, SAI Festival Award, Choreographic Writing Encouragement Award – Cortoindanza, Special Prize Movin’Up IN.
Their work has been selected by various platforms and programs, including Boarding Pass Plus, Progetto CURA, Movin’Up GAi, Collagene – DAS Bologna, Twain_direzioniAltre Prize, Biennale MArteLive, CosiDanza, Stray Birds Dance Platform, and the Vetrina giovane danza d’autore – Anticorpi XL Network.
Currently, Nunzia is in the research and creation phase of a new performance titled HORIZON, finalist of the DNAppunti Coreografici.
Alongside their performance work, Nunzia develops a practice in abstract painting. Their works have been exhibited in collective shows at Cie Résonance (FR), Fondazione E.P. Santomasi, Atelier Montez, Galleria Extra Factory (IT), and the Copelouzos Family Art Museum (GR).
Their experimental video RED was a finalist at the Biennale MArteLive, The Next Short Film Festival, and Sottovenere, among others.
In many of their projects, Nunzia also creates the sound design, starting from a conceptual framework that informs the entire creative process.
In parallel with their artistic work, they are engaged in education and facilitation, leading movement workshops that bring together dance professionals and individuals from diverse backgrounds and abilities. They have been invited as a guest teacher by numerous institutions and festivals, including La Biennale di Venezia, Taiwan National University of Arts, University of Panama City, Milkshake Project Paris, Marameo and Dock 11 Berlin, SceneKunst, Compagnia Balletto di Roma, Da.Re. Dance Research, District Dance Festival, DanzArt Festival, Prospettiva Danza Teatro, R.i.d.a. Program, Opificio in Movimento, International Creative Hub, among others.
Nunzia trained at the Dance Arts Faculty, Sadna Ga’aton, the research collective LaCollectiz, Batsheva Dance Company Excellence Program, and deepened their study of the Gaga Movement Language, receiving the certification as a teacher.
